Sweet Dreams Day Information

Sweet Dreams Day is a day for celebrating our community. Local business owners share in the excitement by offering information and products to the community. Food vendors keep the crowd full while they soak in all the live music, games, contests, crafts, sporting events, and local community agencies display booths. Kids enjoy the rock climbing wall, laser tag, crafts, contests, and a visit from Hershey Characters. This year the park will have a brand new play area for the children.

In 2005 the Sweet Dreams Day won an award from the National Association of Counties and Virginia Parks and Recreation Society for Best New Special Event. The event began in 2003 with 63 vendors and has grown to 130 vendors in a short amount of time.  The event prides itself on customer service and fun for the family.  There is free parking and admission to the event.  This truly is a “down home” fun event for everyone.

The day begins at 6:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Ruritans and ends at 3:00 p.m. In the past, Sweet Dreams Day had over 10,000 spectators of all ages. Visitors praise the hard work and dedication of the Augusta County Parks & Recreation team, Sweet Dreams Board, business sponsors, and volunteers. You don't want to miss out on the fun. "[Sweet Dreams] is a well organized festival. The "Sweets" theme is a stroke of genius. The park is a great venue and the best little festival in the county." -Claude S.

"...the event was just super! From the moment we signed in, everything was organized and well thought out. The hospitality booth for the vendors is a wonderful touch that I have never seen at any other show. The event was very well attended and I believe has become a community tradition in just 5 years. Kudos to all your staff!" -Allison F.

"We had a wonderful time-it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. You do such an amazing job with that event- it was so organized and laid out perfectly. We definitely want to be a corporate sponsor again next year, so put us on the list!" -Courtney T.

"On behalf of all of us here at the Stuarts Draft Post Office, I want to thank you for the wonderful job done at this year’s 'Sweet Dreams Day'. The Augusta County Parks and Recreation Department has proven to be second to none in supporting and serving the community, and all your hard work in planning and staging 'Sweet Dreams' is a testimonial to that fact. We have had scores of people at our retail window tell us how much they enjoyed this year’s event and we have told them it was due to all of Augusta County’s hard work. You all should be very proud of your efforts!" -Kevin B. (photo on left)
